LANDCRUISER 79 vs LANDCRUISER 78 Both LandCruisers and yet so different. The weight distribution is the most obvious difference. The 79 is definitely longer but also carries more weight on the rear. That would some how reduce the offroad capability a little. The philosophy is also quite different between those two trucks. The 78 is basically a 4x4 van. It is designed to live inside even if you can also live outside. The 79 is designed to live around the truck with the exception of the rooftop tent. I would say that the 79 could carry 4 passengers though 3 would be more reasonable while the 78 is more a 2-seater. Like we say “same-same but different”.
