Is A PhD Pointless? 
I got this question recently that is there much value in doing a PhD now? 
With AI and machine learning new drugs are being developed via that. New algorithms or insights are being generated from a click of a button. So do we need PhDs? I would argue we need them more now than ever before, here is why. 
As impressive as AI and related items are, they are still “tools”. The novel thinking, insights and directing new advanced tools are where “thinkers” are needed. A PhD are that very least create a new generation of advance thinkers that can utilise the latest in tech to advance society.
