From the pen of William Steel… Like many others, I am truly saddened and disheartened that a second violent attack against officers of the United States Capitol Police has occurred. There is no justification nor excuse for these attacks. There is no justification for this violence. Officer William Evans was an 18 year veteran of the Capitol Police, and a member of the Capitol Division’s First Responder’s Unit. I would like to convey my prayers and condolences to the family members of fallen officer William Evans, know to those close to him as Billy. To officer Evan’s Mother Janice, his children Abigail and Logan, and everyone who had the opportunity to know officer William Evans, be it personally, professionally, or socially, I offer you all my deepest sympathies. I wish that I could offer you more.
