Two years into my grey journey, and what I’ve learned is this: grey is not the enemy. Neglect is.
What I didn’t expect was that it would become a journey at all. At first, the decision was mostly convenience. But somewhere along the way… it became freedom.
Freedom from constant maintenance. Freedom from chasing youth. Freedom from other people’s opinions.
I’ve heard it all.
“You’ll look older.” “Your face is so youthful, it doesn’t match the hair.” “You’re so courageous. I could never do that.”
But going grey isn’t courage.
Courage is surviving the dark seasons of life.
Courage is surviving illness. Surviving domestic violence.Surviving psychological abuse. Surviving assault. Surviving miscarriage or the heartbreak of never conceiving. Surviving betrayal at its deepest level. Surviving loss. Surviving the moments life dismantles you — and finding a way to rebuild. Women carry these stories quietly.
And the long list of what women have endured and survived silently. That lightning...
