Id say about 90% of the time, this helps me hit the ball better (without changing anything else).
If you’re not being active enough with your feet in a solo hit, you will try to do too much with the racquet and adapting the swing.
Of course you need to be able to adapt your swing depending on how the ball is coming to you, but simply getting your feet in a better position will help you get a better contact point and therefore will help you be able to keep a more consistent swing.
You could also just focus on moving your feet more when soloing, but I find doing some ghosting helps me do the extra things better that matter- bending my knees at the back, little adjustments, getting down lower to drop shots, etc.
