I know it’s not the answer you want to hear, but it’s the truth. As unsexy as it is, training MANAGEMENT is arguably the most important variable to get right to reduce your injury risk. Not supplements. Not stretching. Not even strength training 🤯🤯🤯 (yes, it helps, but it’s lower on the totem pole than training management). Playing for 45-60 minutes for MOST people is enough squash at one time. Beyond that, you start to get into overuse territory. Fatigue sets in, you start to move slower and more lethargically. Quality of squash goes down. I’m especially speaking to Masters athletes here (moreso than juniors). When this happens, it’s usually better to save your body and come back the next day, rather than trying to squeeze an extra 15 mins on court. If you ARE insistent on doing some more training, use that time instead to do a short strength circuit, some low impact cardio intervals on the assault bike, solo hit, or a good cool down.
