Would you play squash outdoors in the winter?!
At maspeth.squash , they’re all about braving the elements.
The last time I played a match on this court, it was early September and we faced the opposite issue- it was super hot! 🥵
Jeff and Robert at maspeth.squash have a vision which only continues to grow, and the enthusiasm is infectious. How else could you possibly conjure a crowd of 20+ people to trek out in the freezing cold to watch some squeeeesh!?
How did the court play, you ask?
The floor was the toughest bit for me, as it was a little slippery and I didn’t feel confident lunging in with force.
We had to use a blue dot ball (yes, even BOUNCIER than a single yellow dot), which was painted white. It played well for the first game and a half, then the paint started to wear off which made it skid.
The temperature was actually ok body-wise. I wrapped up well and felt pretty insulated. My hands were a little cold but not debilitating in the least. I’ve suffered much worse...
