THE 9–5 ILLUSION Most people spend their entire lives inside a system they never chose. From childhood we are conditioned into the same path: Go to school. Get a job. Work 40–60 years. Pay taxes. Pay debt. Consume endlessly. Then retire when your body is tired and your best years are behind you. This is presented as “normal life.” But if you step back and look at the structure of the modern world, a very different picture begins to appear. The system runs on three things: • your time • your labour • your consumption Debt keeps you working. Inflation slowly erodes your savings. Taxes extract your income before you even see it. Meanwhile corporations profit at every stage of the cycle. They sell the products. They sell the loans. They sell the insurance. They sell the medicine. Even the crises often become industries.
