We were told working hard means contributing to society. But contributing to whose society? Most people spend 40–50 years working, yet never own the system they are building. The land is owned. The resources are owned. The corporations are owned. The governments are influenced. So when people say “work harder for society”… What they often mean is: Keep the machine running. A healthy society should reward creativity, innovation, community and wellbeing. Instead many systems reward obedience and productivity above everything else. Maybe the real question is: What would society look like if people were truly free to contribute not forced to survive?
