International flights no longer land in Haiti’s capital because gangs control much of the city. It’s too dangerous. Mitch Albom runs an orphanage there. To visit, he flies to Cap-Haïtien, takes a helicopter into Port-au-Prince, then travels in bulletproof vehicles with heavily armed guards. “Back before the gangs were an issue, we had two security guards. Now we have 24,” explains author Mitch Albom, who regularly makes the trip to Port-au-Prince. #Haiti #portauprince #security #mitchalbom
