Given threats from Iran, ship crews in the Persian Gulf have been advised to stay below deck as much as possible. Two oil tankers off the coast of Iraq were struck by explosives and set ablaze. One was American-owned. Crews had to be rescued by boat. Since the war began, there have been 16 confirmed attacks on ships in and around the Persian Gulf.
