“This is a standstill,” says Captain Silke Lehmköster, who oversees a fleet of cargo ships for German shipping giant Hapag-Lloyd. There are roughly 700 ships currently sitting in the Persian Gulf, including about 400 oil tankers holding 200 million barrels of oil.
