The #AllmanBrothersBand kicked off a ten night engagement on this date in 2014, marking what would become the group’s penultimate run at the venue. Forgoing the special guests that colored recent ABB runs at the Beacon, Gregg Allman and original drummers Butch Trucks and Jaimoe instead gave organic performances from their repertoire, including soulful sing-alongs “Melissa” and “Midnight Rider” and staples like “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed.” Of course, the Beacon would serve as the site of The Allmans six farewell shows that autumn.
