Shirley Chisholm didn’t wait for a seat at the table. She changed the table. In 1968, she became the first Black woman elected to the United States Congress. Just four years later, she made history again as the first Black woman to run for president of the United States. Her campaign slogan said it all: “Unbought and Unbossed.” Shirley Chisholm challenged the limits placed on women and people of color in politics — opening doors for generations of leaders to follow. This Women’s History Month, we honor Shirley Chisholm and the women who built what we stand on. She marched. Now we march. #WomensHistoryMonth #MarchOn #WomenLead #ShirleyChisholm #CivilRights
