🗣️ IN HER OWN WORDS 🗣️ Residents at our Center for Women work release program tell us they often felt invisible to the system. Their charges were seen, but not their stories. Their mistakes were counted, but not their trauma. They were treated as numbers, not as mothers fighting to survive. This is what we hear until they walk through our doors. At CCT, our residential, community-based setting changes the narrative. Here, women aren't invisible. They're seen, heard, and supported as whole people navigating complex journeys. But prisons weren't built with women in mind. The prison environment doesn't account for pregnancy and postpartum needs, caregiving responsibilities, histories of abuse and trauma, or gender-specific health concerns.
