I’m a strong believer that representation matters! Sometimes you have to see someone that looks like you in a space to give you the hope that it’s possible. You also have to be ready to do the work at hand and be good at it as well! For me meeting and seeing a guy like 49ersofficialphotog almost 10yrs ago, amazed me and made me comfortable in my own skin in spaces where I may have been the only photog of color. As we break barriers in sports photography with more women and minorities behind the lens…. it takes mentorship and good leadership from those in decision making roles to keep it going!
