Spotted a bunch of Sri Lankan water buffalo on our first day in Wilpattu. Some standing waist deep in the water, others nearly invisible except for the very tops of their heads, usually with a bird sidekick on top. True to their name, water buffalo spend hours in the water every day to stay cool in the heat and escape the bugs.
