Golden from K-Pop Demon Hunters wins Oscar for best original song
Victory for South Korean sensation is film’s second of the evening, after best animated feature. Golden, one of the hits from K-Pop Demon Hunters, has become the first K-pop tune to win the best original song Oscar.
Ejae, 24, Ido and Teddy Park also became the first South Koreans to win in the category. While Ejae gave an emotional address, Mark Sonnenblick was cut off mid-speech.
The Oscar is the film’s second of the evening, following their victory in the best animated film category.
“For those of you who look like me, I’m so sorry that it took so long to see us in a movie like this, but it is here. That means the next generations don’t have to go longing,” said Maggie Kang, the film’s co-writer and co-director, receiving that award. “This is for Korea and Koreans everywhere.”
