KILLER SENTENCED: An Elizabeth man has been sentenced to 28 years in state prison for fatally stabbing his fiancée in their home in 2024, authorities said. Police responded to a home on Florida Street at about 9:15 a.m. on Dec. 30, 2024, after receiving a 911 call reporting a stabbing. Officers found Naket Jadix Trinidad Maldonado, 31, of Elizabeth, dead at the scene, authorities said. In a 911 call shared with News 12, Jose Melo told the emergency dispatcher, "I think I killed my girl," and that they "got into an argument" and he stabbed her.
