If there’s one thing we know about newborns it’s even the best laid plans can change!
Last week we informed our community we would be welcoming guests to meet the new Masai giraffe calf through March Break between the hours of 11:00am and 3:00pm, as we did with Mstari’s previous calves.
After trying this out over the last four days, we’ve decided the best scenario for this little one is giving her more time to bond with Mom out of the public eye each day. This will mean the giraffe house is now open 11:00am to 1:00pm daily, allowing for more quiet time as the two continue to bond and nurse.
Each calf is a truly unique individual, and Mstari’s calf is still getting used to the world, so her needs may change from day to day. Flexibility is key as we continue to emphasize the health and welfare of both Mom and baby. Thank you for your kindness, patience, and understanding as we put their comfort and well-being first during this very special time for the Masai giraffe family.
