During the monthlong celebration of Ramadan, Muslim students on campus have gathered to celebrate with prayer, fasting and community. Muslim and Arab student organizations have hosted Iftars and Suhoors, among other social events for Muslim students and the broader campus community.
Ramadan is considered the sacred month in the Islamic calendar, celebrated by fasting from sunrise to sunset. The monthlong fast ends with Eid-al-Fitr, a three-day festival of prayer and elaborate meals. This year, Ramadan began Feb. 17 and will end March 19. Eid-al-Fitr will be March 20.
For many, Ramadan is an important time for service, introspection and spiritual grounding.
