TAXING LONG ISLAND: The deadline to grieve your property tax assessment in Nassau County is less than two weeks away, and a new court ruling could make appeals easier for many homeowners. A State Supreme Court decision says Nassau homeowners can submit their own evidence to argue their property is unequally assessed and seek a reduction. An earlier Nassau judge had ruled that kind of homeowner evidence was inadmissible, but an appellate court found those homeowners were wrongfully denied, potentially reopening thousands of claims.
