Here’s what to do in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula in just 10 days. Road trip time!

Day 1: Mackinac Island I recommend hopping on the Star Line Mackinac Island Ferry to the island from St. Ignace. I’ve been to the island quite a few times, and we’ve typically found a full day was enough time to explore the Grand Hotel, historic Fort Mackinac, grab ice cream, and, of course, eat some fudge. Staying in St. Ignace overnight will allow for an easy drive to Sault Ste. Marie in the morning. Day 2: Sault Ste. Marie Sault Ste. Marie is about a 50 minute drive from St. Ignace. While in Sault Ste. Marie, don’t forget to stroll downtown, shop at the local stores, and do a Soo Locks boat tour. Lodging is easy to find in the area as well.

Day 3: Tahquamenon Falls
Make the hour-and-a-half drive from Sault Ste. Marie to Tahquamenon Falls State Park. It’s a must to hike to the Upper Falls. After visiting the falls, I recommend making the 1.5 hour drive to stay the night in Munising.
