Here’s your inspiration to get out there and explore! 🥾 I remember finding pictures of this hike online, but none of them compared to ACTUALLY seeing it. ⛰ Hiking to Charlies Bunion: • Begins at Newfound Gap • Travel eastbound along the Appalachian Trail • At two-thirds of a mile you’ll see the North Carolina Smokies • At 1.7 miles in you’ll see Mount LeConte and Myrtle Point • 4 miles from the trailhead a short trail will branch off and take you to this viewpoint I’d consider this hike strenuous. It’s 8.1 miles roundtrip and has 1640 feet of elevation gain. I tried to complete it in the winter and couldn’t due to ice. I’d recommend hiking it during the summer.
