Celebrate local legend Ruth Asawa in the first national and international major retrospective of her career In “Ruth Asawa: Retrospective,” explore sculptures, drawings, prints, paintings, design objects, and archival materials that showcase how her San Francisco home and garden became the center of her creative universe. Best known for her looped-wire sculptures, her works bridge the gap between art and craft, redefining sculpture in the 20th century.​ The presentation will highlight the artist’s collaborative and inclusive spirit, which shaped her numerous public sculpture commissions and fueled her dedication to arts advocacy—including co-founding the first public arts high school in San Francisco, Alvarado School Arts Workshop, now the Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts.
