A few weeks ago, nine Nest Academy students joined our varsity boys tennis team for an afternoon of competition. 🎾 Nest Academy, a K–12 school in Charlotte, serves refugee and underprivileged students, helping many become first-generation high school graduates. For some of these athletes, this was their first time on a real tennis court. Nest Academy Coach Pender Murphy said, “It’s fun to give them a sport that they will have for the rest of their life.” CDS players teamed up with Nest Academy students for doubles, and senior Evan Schmidt reflected, “A lot of our games are super high pressure, and so it’s awesome to just have fun and remember what the sport is about.” It was a day full of smiles and a reminder of why we play. 🙌 #covenantday #cdslions #covenantdaylions
