The feds quietly bought the 470,000-square-foot warehouse over the objections of the Republican town council and New Jersey Democrats like Gov. Mikie Sherrill. Kim told Sen. Markwayne Mullin, Trump’s new pick to lead DHS and ICE, that detainees would make up 10% of the population in Roxbury, a town with just 42 police officers and a volunteer fire department. “Does that sound like the kind of town that has the resources to take on a warehouse of this magnitude?” Kim asked.
