So Ms. Opal Lee laced up her sneakers and started walking.
From Fort Worth to Dallas to D.C., she walked two and a half miles in each city to honor the two and a half years it took for enslaved people in Texas to learn they were free after the Emancipation Proclamation.
That walk turned into a movement.
And that movement helped make Juneteenth a federal holiday.
