💪 A MODEL THAT’S BEEN WORKING SINCE 1987 💪 Since 1987 when the Center for Women residential work release program first opened, CCT has been leading North Carolina in gender-responsive, community-based reentry. It remains the only program of its kind in the entire state. Today, over 2800 women are incarcerated in North Carolina state prisons. Yet only 30 women at a time have the opportunity to transition to CCT for up to three years at the end of their sentence. That contrast speaks volumes. CCT’s pre-release transitional housing model was built on a simple but powerful understanding: successful reentry doesn’t begin the day someone leaves prison, it begins before they go home.
