At the Rakow Research Library, we preserve some of the most unique and fragile items connected to the history of glass. One item that requires special care is this dance card from a glassmakers’ union gala on February 14, 1925 complete with its own complementary glazier’s tool!
Because of its age and fragility, items like this request specialized conservation techniques, which is why we partner with book conservator Caitlin Jochym of Black Finch Bindery in Endicott, NY.
She’s here to demonstrate the meticulous process and materials involved in preserving historical objects, like the dance card, for future researches and visitors.
You can learn more about the story behind this extraordinary dance card at the Rakow Library link in our bio!
