Des Moines bar owner Steve McFadden apologized at his sentencing Monday for stalking a woman he said he loved and wanted to marry, telling a judge he realized it was selfish and wrong to plant a GPS tracking device on the woman’s vehicle earlier this year. “I mostly want to apologize to her,” he said. A judge gave McFadden probation as part of a plea agreement. He received a suspended sentence of a year in jail on the stalking charge and 30 days for third-degree harassment. McFadden’s friend Edwin Allen III, owner of Zora Bar and Rooftop, was also sentenced in connection with the stalking case, which he pleaded down to a lesser charge under a plea agreement with prosecutors that also involved another outstanding harassment case.
