Hear that? 👂 That “peent” is a male American Woodcock calling at sunset, part of a wild spring courtship display where he spirals high into the sky before singing his way back down to impress a mate. These strange little shorebirds love fields and forest edges and are easiest to find this time of year, right at dusk.
