If your velocity is dropping during the season, most athletes immediately blame mechanics. But a lot of the time, the real issue is fueling. In season, life gets chaotic. School, practice, lifts, bullpens, games. No one is intentionally under-eating, but without a plan it happens slowly. Breakfast gets skipped, school lunches are weak, post-workout nutrition gets delayed, and by the time dinner comes around the damage is already done. Force production runs on glycogen. No fuel, no velo. That’s why we focus on a few non-negotiable anchors during the season: • Anchor breakfast with protein, carbs, and fluids • Fuel before and immediately after training • Rebuild with a high-carb dinner and pre-bed nutrition When these anchors disappear, body weight starts dropping.
