The modern five-star event horse is becoming harder to find, and breeding trends may be part of the reason. The percentage of Thoroughbred blood in event horses has declined over time. Historically, that “blood” provided the speed, endurance, and recovery needed for the demands of top-level cross-country. As more horses are sourced from other disciplines, riders are often preparing horses for a job they weren’t originally bred to do. That doesn’t make success impossible. But it does mean conditioning, patience, and honest assessment matter more than ever. And perhaps most importantly, not every talented horse is meant to be a five-star horse. #ThePlaidHorse #Eventing #ThreeDayEventing #WillColeman #EquestrianSport #HorseTraining #EventingLife #CrossCountry #EquestrianEducation #HorseBreeding #ThoroughbredBlood #EventHorse #EquestrianCommunity #HorseWorld #HorsebackRiding #EquestrianLife #HorseCare #BetterHorsemanship #EquestrianInsights #Plaidcast
