Tuskegee head basketball coach Benjy Taylor appeared alongside attorneys Harry Daniels, Gerald Griggs, John Burris, and Gregory R. Williams in Atlanta as they announced a federal lawsuit tied to the incident following Tuskegee’s regular-season matchup against Morehouse in January 2026.
During the press conference, Taylor’s legal team outlined the claims in the lawsuit, argued that Taylor was unlawfully detained while trying to protect his players, and said the case is about civil rights, accountability, and reputational harm. Coach Taylor also spoke publicly about the emotional, professional, and personal toll the incident has had on him.
This video includes remarks from the attorneys, Coach Taylor, and a parent who described what he says he witnessed that day.
