ARIRANG REIMAGINED BTS COMMAND A GLOBAL MOMENT IN SEOUL
At 8pm on 21 March, Gwanghwamun Square became the centre of attention. In front of the Government Complex in Seoul, BTS appeared in outfits inspired by Joseon era armour, standing on a grand stage shaped like a triumphal arch. They opened with Body to Body, a powerful reinterpretation of the traditional Korean melody Arirang.
Surrounded by waves of purple light from fans, the performance turned a deeply rooted folk song into a modern global anthem that crossed cultures and borders.
The one hour show, BTS Comeback Live ARIRANG, marked the release of their fifth studio album and their first full group comeback in nearly four years. All 22000 seats sold out instantly, with over 100000 fans attempting to secure tickets. Most seats were free, while the concert streamed worldwide in 190 countries via Netflix.
Attendance reached around 104000 people, with crowds gathering around the main stage and large screens to watch.
