As part of Women's History Month and our Bigger Than Soccer series, we are honoring Kari Maijala Ornes, Executive Director of Prior Lake Soccer Club. Inducted into the University of Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame in 2016, Kari was a first-team All-American and national runner-up with the Badgers. She has carried her championship mentality with her as a coach and director, bringing home hardware from numerous leagues, including the NPL Finals. We recently spoke with Kari about how she leads her club and advice she would give to today's youth. With a focus on the future of women's soccer, Kari stresses the importance of girls playing sport. She has built a system of support at Prior Lake SC, while emphasizing that you learn a lot about yourself when you compete against others.
