“We need to value the people for who they are, not just what they do.”   In our latest #BiggerThanSoccer episode, we explore our efforts to increase the number of women coaches. Recently, US Club Soccer partnered with @wecoachsports, a nonprofit providing resources and education to help recruit, develop and retain the number of women coaches in our sport. WeCOACH hosted its annual Youth & High School Women Coaches Academy last month, and US Club Soccer presented five member coaches with scholarships to attend for free. One of those recipients was Ashley Ellithorp-Segner, of Club Ohio, whose passion for coaching is rooted in her desire to connect with players and her community.   When we recognize the people who help drive our game forward - coaches, players, administrators, parents and referees alike - and provide them with opportunities to further their passions, our collective impact will be profound.
