America will probably get more killer tornado and hail-spawning supercells as the world warms, a new study says – which also warns the lethal storms will move eastward to strike more often in Southern states such as Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee. The study predicts a nationwide 6.6% increase in supercells, and a 25.8% increase in the area and time the strongest supercells tear over land. Computer simulations were used to predict what will happen by the end of the century with different levels of global carbon pollution levels.
