On Thursday, March 19th, I was honored to receive the SMUD Shine Award for my E Train Talks “Earth Heroes” initiative. The Shine Award recognizes Sacramento-area nonprofits for advocating for sustainability, STEM Education, and environmental equity. I’m especially proud to share that I’m the youngest person to ever receive a Shine Award.. Receiving this award is very special to me because it recognizes the importance of bringing eco-friendly initiatives into classrooms and shows that a brighter future is possible through collaboration, belief, and action. In addition to the award, mysmud will also support my environmental literacy initiative by sponsoring three classrooms I visit with brand-new, eco-friendly children’s books.
