A small push in the right direction revolutionizes someone's career. Nanophotonics expert and #OpticaFellow Hatice Altug (@epflcampus), felt "like a kid in a candy shop" in the lab when encouraged by mentors from an early physics teacher to renowned experts in optical science, including 2023 Optica President Michal Lipson. Altug's work includes breakthroughs for manipulating light at the nanoscale, improving our capabilities to detect viruses and disease-related proteins.
