A growing number of people across the country are confronting the devastating truth of wrongful convictions, in which lives are changed by injustice. In Detroit, Eddie’s hometown, the fight for truth and redemption hits especially close to home. That’s where Conviction Integrity Units (CIUs) come in: specialized teams within prosecutor’s offices dedicated to reviewing old cases and uncovering the truth that time or system failures may have buried.
