The ripple effect that people’s behavior online is having on people within this community is incredibly sad to witness. This is not compassion. This is not empathy. This is not kindness. And, most importantly, this is not creating safety.
As someone who works with all kinds of lgbtq+ people, day in and day out, I have witnessed the impact of these messages. The narratives that are floating around are pervasive and harmful. This collective attitude is making many queer people afraid to be their selves, to live and love authentically…it’s making people feel unsafe on a micro and macro level. Please pause and reflect before taking your individually pointed messages online. We are all trying to human the best we can.
This is our first time in these bodies, in this unique expression, and we are all out here living and learning and deserve the space, freedom and love to do so.
Let’s prioritize creating connection and safety. Everyone deserves that.
With love,
Arielle ♥️
