There have been moments in this journey where the pain has felt entirely suffocating and all-consuming. And while running, distracting or numbing from the pain felt seductive, I sat with it instead. I held myself in complete and utter compassion and gentleness. There were moments where I waited for others to swoop in and save me, only to realize that I was the only one who could save myself. And so I did just that. I carried myself and my heart and all of the younger versions of myself who ached with longing, despair and sadness, and gave them a safe space to heal. And we’re still here.
