Loud construction of a 2.6 million square foot data center in Vineland has locals pissed off and worried the giant 350-megawatt AI data center is going to be a noisy, messy neighbor. About 100 people gathered over the weekend to protest the project, which won a tax exemption from local officials in exchange for bringing jobs and construction to the city. DataOne has a contract with Microsoft and plans to have this place up and running by the end of 2026. But there’s growing opposition to the construction of data centers around the country over skyrocketing energy costs and their impact on the environment.
