Her Legacy | Episode 7
A talented competitor, dedicated teacher, and passionate advocate for making golf accessible to everyone.
Marcia Bailey first made her mark as a dominant amateur, capturing four CWGA Match Play titles between 1963 and 1967, along with two Denver Women’s Invitation Championships.
In 1968, she turned professional and competed on the LPGA Tour, while also serving the game through leadership roles as vice president and secretary of the LPGA’s Central Section.
But Bailey’s greatest impact may have come through her work growing the game. Alongside her husband, Jim Bailey, she helped create Golf For Fun, a program designed to introduce individuals with disabilities to golf. She authored a teaching manual for instructors and organized annual fundraising tournaments to support the program’s mission.
Her excellence as an instructor was nationally recognized when Golf for Women magazine named her one of the Top 50 Women Teachers in America in 2002.
