This year's Texas State Soccer Teal Match is this Sunday at 1 pm. It may seem like a normal game to those watching, but it's far more than that. This is the story of how the Teal Match came to be. As some of you may know and some may not know, head coach Kat Conner is an Ovarian Cancer survivor. She is in her 6th year of survivorship. During Chemotherapy in 2016, coach Conner was reading a book by Julie Foudy called "Choose To Matter: Being Courageously and Fabulously You". The ending chapter talked about giving back. That sparked an idea to involve Texas State Soccer to help in any way they could. Her idea was to help Ovarian Cancer patients by helping to fundraise and help pay for treatments for others when we scored a goal. From there it evolved in to the Teal Match. Teal is the ribbon color for Ovarian Cancer, which explains the teal uniforms the players wear. Each Teal Match/season would be dedicated to someone with Ovarian Cancer.
