After a long struggle, Pat Schultz’s husband, Bill, died two years ago due to complications from Alzheimer’s disease. Now, her dog, Murphy, is aging and may be showing signs of cognitive decline. Schultz says her focus is on making sure they both age as best they can. “The thing I notice is that they both need to be loved and cared for,” Shultz says about Murphy and her late husband Bill.“ Just holding Bill's hand and patting his hand was enough to bring him -- just to decrease that anxiety, decrease that fear that was there. “And it works with Murphy, too,” she says. #alzheimers #longevity #caregiving #dogagingproject
