Dr. Dirk Keene believes his dog, Spring, suffered from what he thinks is similar to dementia. Near the end of her life, she would get confused and disoriented. He says, “She would just stop and stare into space. She would lean against things.” “Dementia's a very complex thing that includes confusion; it includes the loss of the ability to remember where you're supposed to be, sort of spatial references. Very similar to what we're seeing in dogs, it happens in people,” says Dr. Keene, a neuropathologist at the University of Washington. #dogs #dementia #dementiaawareness
