Scientists often test treatments on mice before moving directly to human trials, but many of those treatments fail in people. Veterinary neurologist Stephanie McGrath says studying dogs could help bridge that gap in research. Dogs develop many of the same age-related diseases as humans, including cancer and dementia. Dogs also age rapidly compared to humans, so while a lifelong study in humans could take decades, similar research in dogs can take just five to ten years. #dogagingproject #longevity #aging #dogs #dogscience
